Terms
Yaps Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of Yaps, a location-based anonymous posting app for local public conversations. Last updated: May 11, 2026.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms to use Yaps. Do not use Yaps if applicable law prohibits you from using location-based social networking or user-generated content services.
2. Accounts, Usernames, And Public Identity
You are responsible for your account credentials, sessions, and activity. Public posts and comments show your username, not your email address, real name, login provider, or internal account ID. You must choose a username you have the right to use and may not impersonate another person, brand, public official, or organization.
Public anonymity is limited. Yaps may associate posts, comments, votes, reports, device/session information, IP address, timestamp, location metadata, and account records with your internal user ID for safety, fraud prevention, moderation, legal compliance, and enforcement of these Terms.
3. Yapper's Tier Subscription
Yapper's Tier is a paid subscription that allows an active subscriber to comment on posts. The current price is $3/month. Users without an active Yapper's Tier subscription may still view the feed, create posts when they meet the app's posting requirements, and like or upvote posts when logged in, but they cannot create comments.
On iOS, Yapper's Tier is sold through Apple in-app purchase. Your subscription renews monthly until you cancel it through your Apple account settings. Apple may charge your payment method within 24 hours before the end of the current period. If you cancel, you keep commenting access until the paid period ends unless Apple revokes, refunds, or otherwise terminates the transaction earlier. Refund requests and billing disputes for Apple purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
If a subscription is canceled, expired, unpaid, past due, refunded, revoked, or cannot be verified, Yaps will remove commenting access. Yaps may restore access after the payment provider confirms an active entitlement. Subscription prices, taxes, local currency, and free trials or offers, if any, are shown by the app store before purchase.
4. Posting, Commenting, And Voting
Posts and comments must be plain text and must comply with these Terms and the Community Guidelines. Yaps does not permit image uploads or private direct messages in the current product. Likes and upvotes may be created only by logged-in users and may be rate-limited or removed if they appear abusive, automated, or fraudulent.
By submitting content to Yaps, you grant Yaps a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, moderate, remove, and distribute that content within the service for operating, securing, improving, and promoting Yaps. You remain responsible for content you submit.
5. Location-Based Use
Yaps uses location to show nearby posts, apply radius filters, and attach location context to posts. You may not use Yaps to identify, track, stalk, threaten, harass, dox, or infer the precise location of another person. Attempts to triangulate users, submit misleading location data, or use Yaps for targeted real-world harm are prohibited.
6. Prohibited Conduct And Content
You may not post, comment, vote, report, or create accounts to harass, bully, threaten, exploit, defame, dox, impersonate, scam, spam, manipulate engagement, evade moderation, encourage self-harm, promote illegal activity, sell illegal or regulated goods, share private personal information, sexualize minors, distribute malware, or target people based on protected characteristics. You may not use automation, scraped data, or multiple accounts to abuse Yaps.
7. Reporting, Moderation, And Enforcement
Users can report posts and comments. Yaps may review reported content, hidden metadata, moderation history, account status, subscription status, device/session data, IP address, timestamps, and location metadata when necessary to investigate safety issues, enforce policies, prevent abuse, respond to legal requests, or protect users. Admin access to sensitive information must be tied to an investigation reason and logged in an audit trail.
Yaps may hide, remove, restore, or escalate content; limit, suspend, or delete accounts; revoke access to features; preserve evidence; notify affected users when appropriate; and report credible threats, exploitation, or illegal activity to authorities when legally required or when Yaps reasonably believes disclosure is necessary to prevent harm.
8. Legal Process And Emergency Disclosure
Yaps may preserve, access, review, disclose, or report account, content, location, device, IP, session, subscription, and moderation information when legally required or when Yaps reasonably believes disclosure is necessary to protect users, prevent imminent harm, investigate abuse or fraud, comply with valid legal process, enforce these Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of Yaps, users, or the public.
9. Account Deletion
Account deletion is available in Settings. Deletion disables your account, revokes sessions, removes or disables login credentials, clears stored location metadata where appropriate, and anonymizes public account identifiers. Some content, reports, moderation logs, subscription records, backup records, and legal records may be retained for feed integrity, safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, chargeback handling, legal compliance, or enforcement.
10. Service Changes And Availability
Yaps may change, suspend, or discontinue features, categories, radius filters, moderation tools, or subscription functionality. Yaps is provided as a consumer social app and is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every location.
